City of Golden Shadow is the first part of an epic science fiction series by Tad Williams. This episode we examine his view of the internet of the future as written in 1996 as well as the book’s treatment of characters and settings not typically scene in speculative fiction.
These aren’t in order yet, but this is definitely the list of books.
We do know that the first book we’re going over is “Redemption in Indigo” by Karen Lord, if you wanted to pick it up.
After that we don’t know, but here’s the list.
Tad Williams – “City of Golden Shadow”
Andrzej Sapkowski – “Last Wish”
Walter Mosley – “The Wave”
Nalo Hopkinson – “New Moon’s Arms”
Ursula K. LeGuin – “Tombs of Atuan”
Ellen Raskin – “The Westing Game”
Nnedi Okorafor – “Akata Witch”
Terry Pratchett – “The Bromeliad Trilogy” (We’re counting it as one book because it is that short)
Paolo Bacigalupi – “Shipbreaker”
Garth Nix – “Lirael”
The final Book of this volume is going to be “The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms” by N.K. Jemisin (Because we wanted to open and close with books that the two of us endorse unreservedly and without hesitation.)
